The terminology generally used in the timeline for describing events in relation to A New Hope is BBY/ABY. The practice is to date things in relation to the Battle of Yavin (which is the battle at the end of A New Hope).
BBY = Before the Battle of Yavin
ABY = After the Battle of Yavin
So if you were to date them in relation to each other, with the original movie at the zero-point (which is the usual dating convention) it goes like this:
